Railroad Vehicle Technician

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Railroad Vehicle Technician with a strong background in heavy-duty mechanics to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of specialized railroad vehicles that operate on rail tracks, including hi-rail trucks and other rail-bound machinery. This role requires in-depth knowledge of heavy-duty vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repairs, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues unique to rail-bound vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and repairs on railroad vehicles, including engines, braking systems, hydraulics, and electrical components.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in heavy-duty systems, including engines, transmissions, suspensions, and drive trains.
- Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with regulatory standards for rail vehicles.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all railroad vehicles.
- Provide on-site support for emergency repairs and breakdowns when required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle repair and maintenance, with a strong focus on railroad or specialized rail vehicles.
- Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-sensitive environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for rail-bound vehicles is preferred.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or ability to obtain one is preferred.
Work Environment:
This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and may require travel to different job sites. The technician must be able to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces when necessary. Safety protocols and personal protective equipment are essential in this role.
