Transportation Specialist for Railroad Crews

The transportation services we offer are essential to the smooth operation of the railways, and we take pride in our commitment to quality service.
As a member of RCX, you will be responsible for transporting railroad crews to various locations according to their requirements.This role is ideal for individuals who wish to contribute to the maintenance of our railroad systems while ensuring the safety of all involved.
Due to the critical nature of safety and security around railroads, the minimum qualifications for Drivers include:- Minimum age of 21
- Valid state-issued driver's license
- Preferably reside within a 20-25 minute commute from the location
- On-call position allowing for flexible scheduling

Job Types:
Full-Time and Part-Time
Compensation:
$15.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide driving services with a focus on the timely and safe transportation of crew members.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of assigned vehicles before starting a trip or shift.
- Perform post-trip inspections upon returning the vehicle.
- Monitor vehicle operation throughout the trip to ensure safety.
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle in accordance with RCX standards.
- Ensure safety during the embarkation and disembarkation of crew members by:
- Keeping the vehicle in park
- Shutting off the engine
- Activating 4-way flashers
- Assisting crew members with entry and exit from the vehicle
- Performing a 'Get Out and Look' (GOAL) before backing up
- Assessing safety before crossing tracks
- Following the 4-second rule when trailing other vehicles
- Observing speed limits during irregular operations
Additional Responsibilities:
- Maintain communication with dispatchers as required.
- Accept trips promptly as dispatched.
- Ensure personal and professional life allows for compliance with service hour limitations.
- Uphold appropriate dress and hygiene standards.
- Keep accurate records of trips, including stops and mileage, and submit them promptly.
- Coordinate with dispatchers upon arrival at destinations to facilitate efficient operations.
- Complete a Trip Sheet for each dispatched trip.
- Manage fuel expenses using a designated fuel PIN number.
- Use RCX cellular phones strictly for business purposes.
- Return vehicles in a clean and fully fueled condition for the next driver.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state-issued driver's license
- No more than two moving violations in the last three years
- No serious violations such as reckless driving or DUI in the past five to seven years
- Must pass a background check and be cleared by eRailsafe
Educational Requirements:
- Ability to understand and read instructions in English
- Proficiency in reading maps and written directions
Physical Requirements:
- Minimum age of 21
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Capacity to sit for extended periods while driving
- Ability to perform vehicle inspections and safely enter and exit the vehicle
- Must meet physical requirements as per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Acts.
