Openwork is assisting The Harris County Clerk in their search for Trainer-Instructors. September 4th start date for well qualified Instructors.
Trainer-Instructor IInstructing election workers in equipment, processes and procedures in working at a Vote Center. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Demonstration/explanation of election procedures, processes, and voting equipment using a curriculum.
  • Work with a team of instructors to teach classes (in-person and some online) of 50 – 200 election judges and clerks.
  • Class Management (in-person and some Zoom).
  • Set up and tear down classrooms including packing up all materials to be transported to other locations.
  • Answering phone calls from judges during voting periods.
  • Mastery of election content (manual and curriculum).
  • General election duties, as needed.
  • Work mandatory election days (start of Early Voting, last day of Early Voting, and Election Day).
  • Leading classes as the Whole Group Instructor.
  • Visiting Vote Centers to reinforce training procedures with election worker.
  • Troubleshooting and performing advanced functions (equipment, procedures, requalifying).

Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Presentation skills (high engagement and pacing).
  • MS Office programs.
  • Proficient/Experienced in Zoom.
  • Proficient/Experienced in Adult Learning.
  • Flexibility in fast-paced/changing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Customer service skills (including phone support).

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds for extended periods of time (throughout 3-4 hour classes).
