Position Overview:
Mr. Kitt’s Service Center is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Experienced Automotive Service Writer to join our team. The Service Writer serves as the bridge between our customers and our technicians, ensuring clear communication, exceptional customer service, and efficient workflow within the shop. This position requires strong automotive knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to build trust with customers.
Key Responsibilities: Customer Interaction:
  •  Greet customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  •  Assess customer concerns and accurately document service requests and vehicle symptoms.
  •  Provide estimates, explain recommended services, and obtain approval for repairs.
  •  Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing inquiries and concerns promptly.

 Workflow Management:
  •  Coordinate with technicians to prioritize and schedule repair work.
  •  Communicate with customers about repair progress and notify them of any changes or additional services required.
  •  Ensure timely completion of all work orders and maintain clear records of services performed.

 Sales & Service Recommendations:
  •  Educate customers on necessary repairs and preventative maintenance to extend vehicle lifespan.
  •  Upsell additional services and maintenance packages when appropriate, maintaining integrity and transparency.

 Administrative Tasks:
  •  Prepare and finalize repair orders, invoices, and warranty documentation.
  •  Manage parts ordering and inventory as needed to support efficient repairs.
  •  Keep the front office organized, maintaining accurate records for compliance and reporting.

Qualifications: Experience:
  •  Minimum of 2-3 years as a Service Writer or in a similar customer-facing automotive role.
  •  Proven experience in customer service, sales, and managing automotive repair processes.

 Knowledge:
  •  Strong understanding of automotive systems, repair terminology, and diagnostic processes.
  •  Familiarity with shop management software and estimating tools (e.g., Mitchell1, AllData, or similar).

 Skills:
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  •  Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  •  Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle challenging customer situations calmly and professionally.

 Other Requirements:
  •  High school diploma or equivalent (post-secondary automotive education is a plus).
  •  Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
