Automotive Service Department Lead

MrKitt's Service Center & Towing is seeking an experienced Automotive Service Manager to oversee the daily operations of our service department. This key leadership role involves managing a team of skilled technicians, coordinating vehicle repairs and maintenance, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
Main Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Supervise and lead a team of automotive service technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure a cohesive and productive team.
- Customer Service: Interact with customers to understand their vehicle service needs, provide estimates, explain repairs, and address any concerns or questions, maintaining a focus on delivering excellent customer service and building strong customer relationships.
- Service Operations: Plan and schedule vehicle repairs and maintenance tasks based on workload, technician availability, and customer appointments, ensuring that service orders are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels of automotive parts, supplies, and equipment, placing orders for replenishment as needed, tracking inventory usage, and ensuring proper storage and organization of inventory items.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure that repairs and services meet or exceed industry standards and customer expectations, conducting regular inspections and follow-up checks to address any issues promptly.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control costs related to labor, parts, and overhead expenses, developing and implementing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize profitability without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and company policies, maintaining a safe and clean work environment for employees and customers, and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Business Management, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in automotive service management, including knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance procedures.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor employees to achieve performance goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, technicians, and other team members.
- Proficiency in automotive service software, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, safety protocols, and best practices in automotive service and repair.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing priorities and customer needs.
