Community Support Services (CSS) transforms lives and community by supporting veterans, ending homelessness, treating substance use, and preventing and intervening in community and domestic violence. As a department in Mecklenburg County’s Health and Human Services Agency, CSS maximizes community partnerships and collaborative opportunities to improve access to services and advocate for the needs of special populations. 
Position Specific Information
Scattered Sites opportunity – Position available with the Housing Innovation & Stabilization Services (HISS) division responsible for serving a caseload of chronically homeless adults with disabilities, aiding with obtaining and moving into apartment living and helping them to achieve greater independence, self-sufficiency, and housing stability. This is considered a Permanent Supportive Housing model.  Success will be measured by formerly chronically homeless adults, finding housing and achieving housing stability and self-sufficiency in the community, therefore no longer relying on shelters, the streets, jails, and hospitals for temporary residence. 
Minimum Qualifications
  •  Experience:  Minimum of two years of experience providing clinical services in the area assigned.
  • Education:  Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related human services field.
  • Licenses and Certifications
  •  NC Professional Licensure is required in one of the following areas: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Clinician (LCMHC)
  • Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
  • Requires County Driving Privileges
  • Annual Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check required
 Preferred Qualifications
  •  Dual licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) WITH LCAS or LCAS-A licensure in NC. Associate level licenses such as the LCSW-A and LCMHC-A may be considered.  
  • Experience with SPMI populations, In-Home services, and Community Based services highly preferred.  
  • Experience with Housing First, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and Mental Health Recovery models and applying them to the population served.  
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support stability of housed clients dealing with challenges to their stability.  
  • Experience with individuals who have experienced homelessness and mental health / substance use issues.  Experience with successfully achieving stable housing with the homeless population.  
  • Experience with special population housing program development.
  • Understanding of the impact between homelessness and criminal justice system involvement.
