Overview of the RoleThe purpose of this position is to assist Nassau Financial Federal Credit Union to live out its Service Mission, “Improving the financial well-being of each member and the communities we serve,” by providing outstanding service to both members and internal members.  In addition, this position is responsible for providing assurance in the quality of operating activities in various areas of the Credit Union, for compliance with laws, regulations, and credit union policies and procedures. Serve as a liaison for external audits and reviews.  Prepares reports on the results of internal reviews, recommending improvements to policies, procedures and efficiencies.  Responsibilities
  • Maintain logs and spreadsheets as part of the review process
  • Effectively communicate and prepare reports of results for management that include findings with recommendations to enhance internal controls, procedures and policies.
  • Create spreadsheets and or logs that adequately document the work performed and support conclusions contained in the reports.
  • Maintain a Risk Analysis based on internal and external reviews.  This analysis will determine the course of reviews needed in the following review cycle.  The cycle may be monthly, quarterly, annually, etc. based on the Risk Analysis.
  • Will perform reviews of operational activities on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. These reviews will be on the following areas/departments (this is not an all-inclusive list) IT, Operations, Retail, and Vendor Management.
  • Lending department review: 
    • Will conduct a review at least annually of the logs and reports prepared by the Lending QC Specialist or Lending Support Specialist using a sample method to ensure records are up to date. 
    • Review the HMDA file when filing is necessitated. 
  • Assist on branch cash and compliance audits
  • Assist on other reviews that are primarily outsourced, such as gathering information, tracking findings to ensure they are cured, etc.
  • Perform dividend review whenever there is a rate change.
  • Keep up to date with all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

Credentials, Experience, and Skills
Job requires an Associate degree or comparable work experience with adequate proficiency in language, math, and reasoning skills. A minimum of two years of successful work experience in the financial service industry is preferred.
  • Computer Skills:  Strong computer proficiency skills with emphasis on knowledge of Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with Members, managers, and staff. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Well-organized, efficient self-starter with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and in groups.
