We are looking for a DSP to join our team You will be directly working with patients, following a one-on-one care plan in patient homes. You operate with a big heart, not only providing personalized and attentive care, but by building genuine relationships with those you serve. You are detail-oriented, highly organized, and committed to creating a healthy environment that meets patient needs. Strong verbal and written communication skills are needed to succeed in this role. Prior Home Health or Hospice experience is a plus. This is a low-stress job. You get to relax WHILE working with developmentally disabled clients in a home setting rather than working long-grueling shifts at a warehouse. You will get paid to do an honorable thing while maintaining your health and sanity.

Responsibilities:
  • Support Daily Living: Provide support with daily activities, including light housekeeping, meal preparation, and personal hygiene assistance as needed.
  • Community Engagement: Facilitate the client’s participation in community activities such as visits to the park, local arcade, or other recreational locations, ensuring a positive and inclusive experience.
  • Transportation: Assist with transportation needs, including driving the client to and from community outings (mileage reimbursement provided for approved activities). 
  • Build Rapport: Establish a trusting and supportive relationship with the client to promote confidence, social skills, and independence.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO WORK THESE SHIFTS. WHEN THE CHILD IS ON WINTER BREAK, THE HOURS ARE 8AM-4PM MONDAY-FRIDAY (40 HOURS). AFTER WINTER BREAK, THE HOURS ARE M,W,TH,F 4PM to 8PM AND SATURDAY- SUNDAY 12PM TO 6PM (28 HOURS PER WEEK). 
  • Observation and Reporting: Monitor the client’s behavior and overall well-being, providing detailed reports to the agency and family as necessary.
  • Open-mindedness: Approach the role with a non-judgmental attitude, respecting the client’s preferences, identity, and interests.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the client’s family and service team to ensure the best quality of care and to address any specific needs or goals.
  • Adhere to Guidelines: Follow all agency policies, procedures, and DODD standards, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for the client.

Qualifications:
  • DODD DSP certification training (DSP training will need to be done prior to starting).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One-year prior professional experience preferred.
  • Driver’s license required - clean driving record for min 2 years and automobile insurance.
  • CPR/First Aid certification is required.
  • Medication Administration certification.
  • Must be negative for TB.
