Under the direction of the Out of School Time Program Manager, this position is responsible for the continued development, coordination and supervision of WAWM Recreation and Community Services Department OST programs. This individual will work closely with the program administrator to ensure that OST programs are of the highest quality and constantly evolving to meet the needs of those they serve.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree + 1 year of recreation based experience, ideally within Before/After School Programs or 2 year Associate Degree + equivalent experience.
  • Experience supervising youth based programs, previous camp experience preferred.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, self-motivated, dependable, able to use common sense and possess a variety of skills. 
  • Able to plan and schedule events, resourceful in solving problems and maximizing resources.
  • Skilled at interacting with participants and families of all socioeconomic backgrounds.
Responsibilities:
  • Assists with recruiting, training and supervising of part time and seasonal staff and volunteers of OST programs.
  • Schedules, staff, plans and leads all Non School Day Camps and Summer Action Adventure Camp.
  • Create Non School Day Camp themes and outlines of camp daily schedules and activities.  
  • Responds to programs when needed, mainly in situations of high student to staff ratio, or in the absence of the Site Administration or Program Manager.
  • Maintain the “Action Program Supply Orders” to ensure programs have the supplies needed to provide quality programming.  
  • Performs annual and routine check of all equipment used in OST programs. 
  • Prepares orders of new/replacement equipment and supplies for all OST programs.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and first aid supplies for all OST programs. 
  • Responsible for onsite supervision of Before School Care programs.
  • Provide ideas and suggestions for program quality improvement and delivery of high quality programs.
  • Ensure that OST Programs align with programs mission and goals.  
  • Serve as a mentor and/or coach to new or emerging staff, mainly in leadership roles. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 
Required to:
  • Work with, instruct and motivate elementary children in  positive and nurturing environments. 
  • Multi-task and prioritize workload.
  • Follow instructions as provided by the Program Manager  and work with limited supervision. 
  • Supervise part time employees and volunteers. 
  • Establish effective working relationships with co-workers, volunteers, parents and community members.
