EC Compliance Coordinator

Reports to: Executive Director.
Main Purpose: Corvian Community School develops the whole child and seeks to address the cognitive, emotional, social and physical needs of each student. The ultimate goal is to help students develop happy, healthy lives well-equipped for the future.
Core Accountabilities: As the EC Compliance Coordinator at Corvian Community School, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our school meets the unique needs of students while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements. You will collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and community partners to develop and implement strategies that support the academic, social, and emotional growth of exceptional children. Your expertise in special education law and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment will contribute to the success and well-being of all students.
Key Outputs/Results:
- Stay informed about federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing special education services, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. Interpret laws and provide guidance to staff on compliance requirements.
- Coordinate the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for exceptional children. Ensure that IEPs are aligned with student needs, goals, and legal requirements.
- Manage the process for developing and implementing Section 504 plans for students who require accommodations but do not qualify for special education services under IDEA. Collaborate with educators and families to identify and implement appropriate accommodations.
- Coordinate the administration of assessments for exceptional children, including standardized testing and alternative assessments as needed. Ensure that assessment procedures comply with legal requirements and support accurate identification of student needs.
- Provide training and support to educators and staff on best practices in special education, including strategies for differentiation, behavior management, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Facilitate workshops and professional learning communities focused on inclusive practices.
- Collaborate with families and community organizations to support the needs of exceptional children both in and out of the classroom. Serve as a liaison between the school, families, and external agencies involved in supporting exceptional children.
- Maintain accurate records of special education services, including IEPs, evaluations, progress reports, and compliance documentation. Prepare reports and documentation for regulatory agencies and funding sources as required.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, or related field.
- Master’s Degree in Special Education Administration.
- Experience in Special Education Administration
- Appropriate North Carolina EC Licensure.
