Job Summary:The Stormwater Inspection & Maintenance Operator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and improving the functionality of retention ponds and stormwater systems to mitigate pollution to the surrounding areas. The role will work within the Wright Tree Service’s vegetation management service line supporting utility customers.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Inspect and maintain storm water runoff and retention ponds.
  • Inspect commercial parking lots, ensuring grates and drainage pipes are unobstructed and properly directing water to retention ponds.
  • Maintain pond cleanliness by removing debris and ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Conduct mowing and weed control around ponds and surrounding areas to maintain a well-manicured landscape.
  • Document the restoration process by capturing detailed before, during, and after photos.
  • Submit detailed documentation of cleanup activities through the customer system.
  • Operate trucks, trailers, industrial mowers, weed eaters, and related technology.
  • Promote and maintain good customer and public relations through effective completion of assigned work.
  • During emergencies or natural disasters, may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.
  • Support, actively participate, and act in accordance with Wright’s culture of safety and employee ownership.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintain knowledge of and follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability Requirements: 
  • Possess excellent leadership skills and be able to handle stressful situations along with being able to multi-task.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, both verbal and in writing, with the public, customers, and fellow employees.
  • Enforces on-the-job safety practices.
  • Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work) and will be subject to call-out work.
  • Must be able to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
  • Must have valid driver’s license, medical card, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards.
Other Preferred Requirements:
  • Herbicide applicator or operator’s certification and license is encouraged, but not required

Physical Characteristics:
  • Possesses the ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis,
  • Must be able to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required,
  • Needs to be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day,
Environmental Factors:
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks such as rain, heat, sun, cold, snow,
  • May work on rough terrain.
