Program: ACE’s Prevention Program: ACE’s Prevention program serves youth, ages 10-15, who are gang affected, otherwise at risk of gang involvement, or system involvement. Utilizing a comprehensive approach,  participants and their families engage in programming that leads to social-emotional development, strengthens participants' family ties, increases protective factors, and promotes other pro-social influences.
Position: The GRYD Prevention Summer Night Lights coordinator plays a crucial role in promoting positive youth development, community empowerment, and violence prevention efforts during the summer months. Dates of Employment: Seasonal employment season is between July 1 and August 26, 2024. Days and hours per day are subject to change. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Possesses the technical and software skills to perform the duties of the position (including Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office)

  • Provides safe passage across gang lines to gang-impacted participants to ensure the safety of participants to receive necessary services.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence/cultural humility in community relations and service delivery
  • Is sensitive to community, cultural, and personal dignity of program participants and can successfully engage, assess, and plan services for participants typical of the program’s target population. Recognizes appropriate boundaries and limitations on interactions with program participants and their families and the need to maintain professional standards and practices. Is familiar with standard approaches to accurate participant record keeping, including timely charting, notation formats, content limitations, and confidentiality practices
  • Possesses knowledge of programs, regulations, and procedures regarding human services, social services, justice, and workforce development
  • Cultural understanding of the marginalized West Valley communities.  
  • Knowledge of gang environment/dynamics within the geographic area.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attends and participates in all mandatory meetings
  • Fosters positive relationships with community members, partner organizations, and local gangs
  • Participate in cultural and community-building activities/events
  • Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care 
  • Performs outreach and marketing duties to recruit participants and educate the community on ACE Services.
  • Organizes, coordinates, prepares, and delivers skills-based workshops for participants
  • Works closely with the Program Manager to develop strategic plans to recruit potential participants, reduce violence within the community, and conduct events.
  • Participates in events and facilitates workshops.
  • Act as a liaison between the GRYD program and the local community, including residents, youth, businesses, and community organizations.
  • Foster positive relationships and trust with community members to encourage participation and promote the Summer Night Lights program
  • Gather and implement feedback for continuous improvement
  • Lead the facilitation of recreational, educational, and skill-building activities for youth during Summer Night Lights events.
  • Engage with youth participants in a positive and supportive manner, providing mentorship and
  • guidance as needed.
  • Create and distribute informational materials about program offerings, schedules, and resources available to participants. 
  • Collect relevant data and feedback from participants, volunteers, and community stakeholders to assess program impact and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned 
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred)
  • Prior experience in case management, working with youth and communities, particularly in urban or underserved areas
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and commitment to community service
  • Spanish language skills, verbal and written preferred
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check 
  • Initial TB employment clearance required
The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $22 hourly. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
