JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Mechanic
REPORTS: Ferrous Operations Manager
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, non-exempt
LOCATION: 127 Fillmore Ave. Buffalo NY, 14210
HOURS: Monday – Friday 7:00am-4:00pm
COMPENSATION: $25-30/hour, based on skills and experience

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance on all diesel vehicles, heavy equipment such as material handlers, loaders, excavators, forklifts, etc. 
  • Troubleshoot and repair all types of diesel and gas engine machines.
  • Diagnose and repair heavy machinery (excavators, forklifts, skid steers, etc.)
  • Repair, replace, recondition, dissemble, weld, and examine parts and engines.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
  • Comply with all company safety measures and government regulations.
  • Communicate with coworkers and customers with a professional attitude.
  • Operate heavy equipment as business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ heavy equipment/diesel mechanic experience.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds).
  • Squat and kneel.
  • Bend and twist as appropriate.
  • Sit/Stand for long periods at a time.
