About the Role

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic at Metalico, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our scrap metal recycling facilities. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and work with a variety of heavy equipment, including forklifts, skid steers, and other material handling machinery.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on our fleet of vehicles and equipment. The successful candidate will have a strong background in diesel mechanics, be able to diagnose complex problems, and possess excellent technical skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Diagnose and repair complex mechanical issues with forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle services and repairs
  • Conduct safety inspections and report any hazards or defects
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure seamless facility operations
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years experience in diesel mechanics, preferably in a heavy equipment or manufacturing environment
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) highly desirable
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (over 50 pounds)
  • Frequent bending, squatting, and standing required
