About the Job:Start your day by doing good Join a fun, vibrant team that’s driving our mission and feeding local communities while diverting over 250,000 pounds of food from landfills every week. Sharing Excess is a Philadelphia-based non-profit that is using surplus to solve scarcity. Our mission is to rescue surplus food from grocery stores, restaurants, wholesalers and farmers and redistribute it to communities in need at no cost to the consumer. We’ve rescued over 30 million pounds of food to date - and we’re just getting started. This summer, we expanded our operations to New York City to increase our impact and get more quality food into the hands of those that need it most.
As our Program Coordinator in NYC, you will play an essential role in establishing and maintaining supplier and recipient relationships, aiding in the overall success of our new operations. This position will require extensive relationship management with vendors and suppliers throughout New York as well as with food banks and other food security organizations throughout the five boroughs. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential. You will also assist in donations data collection, analysis and reporting and other general operational tasks. This is an in-person, on-site position at the Hunts Point Produce Market located in the Bronx.
Position Overview:

    • Develop and implement efficient logistics strategies to optimize food collection, composting, and delivery processes
  • Partnership Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with food donors within the Hunts Point Produce Market to secure ongoing donations and foster regular vendor engagement
    • Collaborate with recipient organizations, such as food banks and community fridges, to understand their needs and ensure timely and appropriate food distribution
  • Volunteer Engagement and Training:
