Construction company is seeking to bring on an Accounts Payable Associate to work as part of the accounting team and will oversee Accounts Payable processing. Construction company is a leading design builder & general contractor for the NYC metro area. Clients include, MTA Construction and Development, NYC Transit Authority, NYC Construction Authority, Dormitory Authority State of New York, LIRR, NYC Dept. of Design & Construction, Hudson River Park Trust, NYC Office of General Services, among others. This is an entry- to mid-level role where accounts payable and/or construction accounting experience is preferred.  The ideal candidate will be excited by the opportunity to take on the responsibility of the accounts payable and cash disbursement cycles. Primary Responsibilities
  • Posting of invoices into accounting system;
  • Managing the routing and approval of purchase orders and invoice support 
  • Review invoices for sales tax due and/or sales tax exemptions;
  • Process invoices for payment;
  • Generate, send and monitor lien waivers;
  • Strong adherence to internal controls related to accounts payable and cash disbursement cycles;
  • Maintaining vendor information within accounting database;
  • Process 1099s;
  • Maintain W9 information of vendors;
  • Set up and breakdown of job sites administration (internet, phones, trailers);
  • Maintain subcontractor insurance compliance;
  • Act as phone reception for accounting department and main phone reception when receptionist is out;
  • Review and process subcontractor change orders;
  • Assist with other accounting department tasks as needed
 Requirements:
  • Construction accounting and/or accounts payable experience preferred;
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) and team player;
  • Strong organizational skills to perform multiple work assignments;
  • A learning and growth mindset seeking to always improve;
  • Highly detail oriented;
  • High integrity professional;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet various deadlines;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or another related field preferred;
  • Experience with Sage Intacct accounting software preferred;
