Compensation: $110,000/Year
Job Description: We are looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our client’s team in the Chattanooga area. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the agreed-upon budget, timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members.
Key Activities & Responsibilities:
- Design industrial heating equipment to meet customer specifications.
- Direct drafters on project design and review drawings for accuracy.
- Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors.
- Develop project scopes and objectives, ensuring involvement of all relevant stakeholders and technical feasibility.
- Communicate, monitor, and track progress of vendors and shop fabrication.
- Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Maintain and manage relationships with clients and all stakeholders.
- Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
- Establish and maintain relationships with third-party vendors.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
- Provide field construction support as needed.
Key Deliverables:
- Develop and maintain documentation for project processes and procedures.
- Assist in defining project scope and objectives, ensuring involvement of all relevant stakeholders and technical feasibility.
- Create Inspection Test Plans (ITP), Piping and Instrumentation (P&I) drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM) for heaters, expansion tanks, fuel trains, pumps, and piping skids.
- Perform ASME code calculations (Section VIII Division 1 or B31.3).
- Generate General Arrangement (GA) and shop fabrication drawings.
- Prepare requisitions for long lead items such as pumps, burners, valves, and fittings.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- Skilled in creating Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Well-versed in ASME codes and standards.
- Proficient in performing calculations for heat transfer, fluid dynamics, temperature, and pressure.
- Experienced in stress analysis.
- Expertise in engineering and designing thermal industrial equipment such as heaters, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, pressure vessels, boilers, actuators, fuel trains, and piping systems.
