Experiential Art Director

Empire is seeking to hire a highly-motivated art director to develop overall design, graphics, and scenic (when necessary) for live events, virtual platforms, and installation projects across multiple client types and mediums. 


In this creative position you will develop overall project creative direction, creating mood boards, concept renderings, designing event décor and collateral, supervising print & scenic production and installation, overseeing scenic fabrication, drafting layouts as well as supervising vendors onsite.


The ability to create original set and experiential designs in a wide range of styles and innovative thinking are critical, as well as experience in event production, video production and scenic fabrication.


Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in and oversees the design, development, and production of environmental graphics
  • Creates innovative, creative, and complete design concepts and presents them to clients
  • Manages the budget, scope, and schedule for the environmental graphic design portion of projects
  • Create and manage client-ready presentation decks featuring design/creative work: mood boards, floor plans, renderings, mockups, graphics, furniture/prop selects, and various other project-related items
  • Inspiration/ Conceptual event design renderings: visual depictions of event themes, décor and production concepts 
  • Create original event signage and collateral including invitations, programs, signage and branded installations, screen graphics, and interface & platform designs
  • Collaborate with producers, other creative team members, as well as with executive leadership 
  • Manage creative line items in overall event budgets
  • Develop set design from  mockups and renders to full fabrication 
  • Collaborating with internal creative team, producers, technical directors and others as well as external creative resources and vendors to maintain creative consistency of vision from concept to execution
  • Develop all experiential activations from concept to completion for events / sponsorship activations. 


 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years professional experience in creative & experiential projects
  • Strong portfolio of creative work featuring executed designs, set designs, and experiential projects
  • Competency in scenic fabrication, video production, and understanding of technical production
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Must be comfortable and able to excel in an open office workspace 
  • Should be comfortable communicating with clients and senior-level stakeholders
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, with knowledge of SketchUp and Vectorworks a plus
