Job Summary
Directs business legal function for Isuzu companies in the United States.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Negotiates and drafts a wide variety of contracts and contract templates to protect company business interests in alignment with legal and industry standards.
- Expertly advises company employees on a wide variety of issues, providing sound legal solutions that align with company business interests.
- Develops and implements legal processes and strategies to support company business objectives while mitigating legal risks and potential liabilities.
- Stays abreast of changes in laws and regulations and ensures compliance with regulatory and corporate governance requirements; develops and implements compliance programs as necessary.
- Provides leadership and guidance, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

- Direct reports: Counsel; Legal & Administrative Specialist
Education, Experience & Training
- Juris Doctor degree
- License to practice law in State of California
- Ten years corporate and commercial transactional practical experience, including one or more years in a corporate legal environment
Knowledge
- Law firm corporate/commercial practice and billing standards
Skills & Abilities
- Strong PC skills in Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Budget development and analysis ability
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization
Physical Standards
The employee must be able to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer. This is primarily a sedentary position in a controlled office environment which requires only occasional reaching, stooping, and lifting of office files, reports, or records, typically weighing 5 lbs. or less. Position requires occasional domestic travel, including overnight stays.
Management Accountabilities
- Work is performed without appreciable direction. Determines organizational objectives, interprets company policy, and delegates assignments to subordinates. Work is performed for multiple affiliated companies. Completed work is reviewed, from a relatively long-time perspective, for desired results.
- Establishes organizational policies in a major segment of the company. Interprets, executes, and recommends modifications to company policies.
- Generally accomplishes results through middle manager levels. Determines and establishes organizational structure and supervisory relationships subject to officer approval. Responsible for managing major segment of company.
- Responsible for the successful operation of activities of major significance to the organization. May become involved in the complexities of day-to-day operational problems. More concerned to see that overall budget schedules and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
- Represents the organizational unit as prime internal and customer contact on contracts or operations.
Pay scale for this position is between $179,645 to $238,030. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
