The Plumbing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing all on-site plumbing operations for multiple construction projects. This role ensures the successful execution of plumbing installations, coordinates with project managers and field staff, and upholds safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive knowledge of plumbing systems and experience in managing field crews for a mechanical subcontractor.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Supervision: Oversee all aspects of on-site plumbing operations, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating daily activities to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
  • Team Leadership: Direct, train, and manage field personnel, ensuring efficient work processes, high performance, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor the quality of work performed, ensuring installations comply with project specifications, codes, and industry standards.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to create and maintain project schedules, coordinating manpower, equipment, and materials as needed.
  • Safety Compliance: Enforce company and OSHA safety policies, conducting site inspections and toolbox talks to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Material & Resource Management: Manage on-site inventory of materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring necessary supplies are available and secure.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any on-site issues or conflicts related to plumbing installations, proactively addressing any delays or obstacles.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project records, including daily reports, timesheets, change orders, and as-built documentation.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in plumbing supervision, with at least 2 years in a superintendent role within a mechanical subcontractor environment.
  • Certifications: Valid plumbing license; OSHA 30 certification and First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, specifications, and construction documents. Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Codes: Strong knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations applicable to commercial and industrial projects.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage field crews, coordinate effectively, and enforce high standards of quality and safety.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent time management, documentation, and planning abilities.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, and other trades.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to proactively address and resolve on-site issues with a solution-focused approach.
