The successful candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of underwriting principles, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.


Responsibilities

* Review and analyze borrower documents, credit reports, income verification, and other relevant information to assess loan eligibility.

* Evaluate loan applications against company and investor guidelines to determine creditworthiness and risk levels.

* Collaborate with loan processors, loan officers, and other teams to gather necessary documentation and information.

* Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to clarify information and address inquiries.

* Make recommendations for loan approvals, denials, or conditions based on underwriting analysis.

* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices in underwriting decisions.

* Assist in maintaining underwriting documentation, records, and reports.

* Stay updated on changes in underwriting guidelines and industry trends.


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, or related field is preferred.

* 1+ years of experience in mortgage underwriting or related roles is a plus.

* Solid understanding of mortgage underwriting principles and loan processing.

* Proficiency in reviewing credit reports, income documentation, and borrower information.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents.

* Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.

* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

* Familiarity with Encompass or other loan origination systems is a plus.
