Marching Band Percussion Caption Head

Position Title: Marching Band Competitive Percussion Caption Head

Reports To: Director of Bands

Position Statement: The Marching Band Percussion Caption Head is an integral part of the marching band staff. Helps in rehearsal planning, show design, and in implementing a visual technique in conjunction with the head director. This position will oversee all things percussion related for the marching band (equipment, personnel, extra music rehearsals/performances, etc).

Essential Functions:

1. Attends all competitions (approximately 4) and home football (TBD) games as needed by the head director.
2. Attends all rehearsals during the course of the season.
3. Attends band camp. Dates and times TBD by director.
4. Implements marching/music technique in a full ensemble and sectional setting.
5. Teaches and cleans drill responsibilities.
6. Runs rehearsals both visually and musically in sectionals.

Skills:

Individual should be a strong leader in music and the marching arts with excellent skills in conducting, marching, choreography, and performance. Must have extensive experience in the marching art/marching percussion teaching and marching experience (DCI, WGI, college marching band, etc).

Late July through October

Hours Per Week:

Approximately 6 Hours per week

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the District evaluation procedures.
