Profile

The South Dakota Board of Regents invites inquiries, applications, and nominations for the position of Chief Information Officer & Chief Information Security Officer (CIO/CISO). This position seeks a strategic thought leader, collaborative campus partner, and proven administrator with an innovative, consistent track record of quality improvement and data-driven decisions.

The CIO/CISO will report directly to the President and will be part of the University leadership team. This leader will provide leadership, support, and intellectual tools to solidify and grow a unique set of initiatives.

Position Description:

Key duties of the CIO/CISO include:

  1. Providing institution-wide leadership and direction in the management and operation of shared information services.
  2. Leading the institutional information technology budgeting process.
  3. Working with the University Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in determining priorities and future directions of the University’s IT functions.
  4. Leading and directing the IT workforce of the University.

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have:

  1. A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Network & Security Administration, or closely related discipline.
  2. Ten years of experience in Information Technology, including supervision of an IT department.
  3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational and leadership skills, with experience in managing complex budgets and personnel.
  5. Ability to articulate IT vision for a progressive IT organization.
