Job Description: Golang Developer (Hybrid)

Location: Plano, Texas

Type: 6+ Month Contract

Schedule: Hybrid (3 days on-site per week)

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented Golang Developer to join our Ops team, consisting of three engineers. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our distributed systems and microservices, ensuring robust monitoring and alerting, and developing new features. You will work closely with a strong senior engineer and a team in flux, aiming to improve and stabilize our operations.


Key Responsibilities:

Distributed Systems & Microservices:

  • Debug issues and perform root cause analysis.
  • Manage microservices that interact with third-party systems.
  • Enhance and maintain our monitoring systems.

Observability:

  • Utilize tools like Datadog for log files, tracing, and monitoring (experience with similar tools is acceptable).
  • Understand the difference between logs and metrics (e.g., setting up Prometheus metrics).
  • Ensure traceability and debugging across multiple microservices.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work within a team that sets up monitoring and alerting.
  • Collaborate with mid-level engineers (3-5 years of experience) under strong leadership.

Production System Maintenance:

  • Maintain and enhance the production system.
  • Develop new features and improve existing ones.


Technical Skills:


Golang:

  • Experience with concurrency in Go (channels, goroutines).
  • Familiarity with proto-buffs and event-driven architecture is a plus.

Containerization & Orchestration:

  • Experience with Docker for containerization.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes clusters.

Cloud Technologies:

  • Experience with AWS ECS, Beanstalk, or other AWS technologies is beneficial but not required.

Monitoring & Metrics:

  • Experience with monitoring tools in a microservices environment.
  • Ability to set up and understand metrics and logs.

Additional Requirements:

Testing:

  • Proficient in testing from a developer's perspective.

Work Schedule:

  • Hybrid role with an expectation of 3 days on-site per week.
