The Maintenance Planning Intern will be involved in dynamic day-to-day tasks. The internship provides an opportunity to contribute to the Company’s bottom line by managing certain industry timelines, building relationships with TTX employees and owner railroads, and supporting the Maintenance Planning and Repair Shop Network teams with tasks and projects.


Length of internship: Full Year: June 2025 –June 2026; Up to 29 hours per week.

Location: Charlotte area residents preferred, a hybrid work model for the whole year.


Overview:

The Maintenance Planning Management Intern will be involved in dynamic day-to-day tasks. The internship provides the opportunity to contribute to the Company’s bottom line by managing certain industry timelines, building relationships with TTX employees and owner railroads, and supporting the Maintenance Planning and Repair Shop Network teams with tasks and projects.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with TTX & third-party repair shops to provide effective customer service
  • Evaluate car flow across the entire shop network and monitor shop cycle times.
  • Update, maintain, and publish various data metrics.
  • Review and approve repair cost estimates submitted by repair shops.
  • Review and approve repair class upgrades submitted by repair shops.
  • Assist with cross-departmental meetings.
  • Assist Maintenance Planning team members with daily work as needed
  • Work with other TTX groups and departments to develop an understanding of the business


Projects and expectations:

  • Compile reports and material for meetings (using MS Word, PDF, Excel and more)
  • Assist in creating metrics to aide in decision making across various groups
  • Draft presentations in PowerPoint to support team efforts
  • Update standard operating procedure documents
  • More to be determined when the internship starts

Internship Goals:

  • Complete all the assigned tasks
  • Opportunity to work with the Railroads, third-party entities and TTX repair network to better understand their business
  • Gain an understanding of internal processes affecting various areas within TTX Company as well as their Railroad owners.
  • Utilize and improve professional communication skills, and develop and manage business relationships, and gain


Qualifications:

  • Current student pursuing a degree in Business, Computer Science, Transportation, Engineering, or a related field


Preferred Qualities Possessed by Candidate:

  • Eager to learn new things, and support the team
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively work on several projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools (Access, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat and Tableau preferred, but not required
  • Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
