Position Summary

THE FOCUS IS YOU:

We are looking to add a Tax Manager to help guide and oversee our clients, in addition to supporting our internal leaders and the ongoing growth in our Melville, NY office.

As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, with the benefit of gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in a variety of industries. The Tax Manager serves to manage client relationships and act as a liaison between overseeing/mentoring internal staff and working closely with internal leaders, to ensure high-quality work is conducted and delivered to our clients.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Regular duties include (but are not limited to):

  1. Serve as a subject matter expert in individual taxation, trusts, and gift taxation.
  2. Review federal, state, and local tax returns, extensions, and quarterly projections for individual clients, Trusts, and gift tax returns.
  3. Review individual tax compliance forms and work with a dedicated individual tax team.
  4. Knowledge of preparation of business corporate and partnership returns is preferred.
  5. Review federal and state tax returns and work of staff and interns, providing feedback, training, and mentoring.
  6. Review tax information supplied by clients and obtain open items.
  7. Develop tax planning opportunities arising from inbound and outbound cross-border transactions and activities.
  8. Assist with the coordination of planning, tax work, and wrap up.
  9. Facilitate tax research and establish tax strategies to client business opportunities.
  10. Identify and communicate tax issues to clients and partners.
  11. Participate in the firm’s marketing, recruiting, team-building, and similar efforts.
  12. Build relationships with clients and staff.
  13. Actively involved in product development and product sales that will enhance market opportunities to generate revenue.
  14. Proactively identify opportunities to introduce the firm and serve as an active spokesperson.
  15. Represent the firm and area of expertise by making presentations at third-party events.
  16. Demonstrate excellence in Executive Presence, People Development, Leadership, and Professionalism.
  17. Effectively develop, supervise, train, coach, and mentor staff.
  18. Manage people with poise and professionalism, especially during peak periods of client engagement and deadlines.
  19. Promote the ideals, values, mission, and vision of the firm.
  20. Conduct self with the utmost professionalism and demonstrate respect towards others.
  21. Respect and embrace diversity; look to build a One-Firm team spirit amongst staff.
  22. Maintain appropriate compliance with all firm-wide and local office policies and procedures.
  23. Promote the most efficient operations of the Firm and support compliance guidelines in managing others.
  24. Assist partners/managing directors in managing administrative activity.
  25. Develop outside relationships with a goal of generating referral sources.
  26. Adhere to the firm’s policies and procedures.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Experience

  • 5+ years in a relevant position
  • Public accounting or other professional services environment preferred

Education

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or other recognized business credential
  • Bachelor’s in Accounting (for Audit or Tax)

License / Certification

  • Must be a CPA
  • Must maintain required CPE credits annually
  • May need other industry or specialization certification for specific positions

Legal / Compliance

  • Must complete acknowledgment of Independence Guidelines and Ethical Standards document
  • Government engagements require ability to obtain a security clearance from the United States government
