Position Overview
Kiewit Power Engineers has an immediate opening for a Underground Civil Transmission Designer to join our growing Underground Transmission team in the Power Delivery department in our Portland, OR office. As part of this team of highly specialized design professionals, you will support a variety of underground/submarine transmission and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV in both engineering detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects for clients throughout the North America.
You will be part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the project execution process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to ensure smooth and safe construction operations.

Location
This position is based out of our Portland, OR.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize work and manage tasks for multiple projects under budget and time constraints.
  • Ability to be well rounded and work with others, from directors to drafters, engineers to secretaries, need to be that middle link that connects management, design and personalities together for successful projects, and office moral.
  • Prepare design deliverables for underground transmission lines including plan and profiles, ampacity calculations, pulling calculations, material selection, duct bank design, and construction specifications in compliance with safety, environmental and client standards and policies.
  • Review drawings developed by junior designers.
  • Develop project estimates and schedules, evaluate design options and criteria fro technical merit, and conduct field visits to verify qrouting conditions and parameters.
Qualifications
  • Knowledge of surveying, geographical information systems, civil and electrical engineering basics.
  • At least five years’ experience in underground transmission line design.
  • Proficiency in CYMCAP and Pull-Planner.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (desired but not required).
  • Associates Degree in civil or electrical engineering technology.
