Field Applications Engineer (FAE) – Connectors & Cable Assemblies

Location: Flexible, San Francisco Bay Area preferred

Job Overview

We are seeking an Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to support our low-speed cable assembly and connector products in partnership with Tier 1 Cloud Service Providers (CSPs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs). This role is ideal for technically educated individuals eager to apply their knowledge and quickly ramp up to contribute meaningfully to high-profile customer projects. As a vital member of our team, you will provide technical assistance, review engineering drawings, and communicate product specifications with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Support for Tier 1 Clients: Provide on-site and remote technical support for cable assembly and connector products, specifically for Tier 1 CSPs, OEMs, and ODMs. Troubleshoot issues, respond to inquiries, and ensure product performance aligns with customer requirements.
  • Engineering Drawing and Pinout Reviews: Review and analyze customer engineering drawings and pinouts, comparing them to industry specifications and our product standards. Provide feedback and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Specification Compliance and Industry Standards: Work with customers and internal teams to verify that products meet industry specifications, communicating adjustments to ensure alignment with standards.
  • CMM Data Review: Review First Article Inspection data to confirm compliance with specifications, providing insights and improvements back to factory teams.
  • Quality Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve quality issues related to our products, collaborating with internal teams and factory personnel to implement corrective actions and ensure alignment with customer quality expectations.
  • Product Integration Support: Assist customers in integrating our products into their designs, offering technical guidance to ensure seamless and effective implementation.
  • Sales Collaboration and Technical Communication: Work closely with the sales team to understand customer needs, support technical discussions, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Keep detailed records of customer interactions, technical challenges, and resolutions to aid in continuous improvement and internal knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related technical field. Master's preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and data.
  • Software Knowledge: Familiarity with mechanical CAD tools.
  • Problem Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, with strong analytical skills for comparing specifications and addressing inquiries.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective technical interactions with Tier 1 customers and internal teams.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, RD and factory personnel.
  • Language: Native or professional Chinese ability is a must along with English.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel as needed to customer and factory sites

Preferred Skills

  • Experience: Any prior experience or internship in technical support, cable assemblies, or connector applications is a plus. 1-3 years of experience preferrred.
  • Foundational understanding: electrical and mechanical principles related to cable assemblies and connectors.
  • Drawing Review: Ability to interpret GD&T, pinouts, and statistical data
  • Customer Focus: Proactive approach with a customer-focused mindset, eager to learn and support Tier 1 customer needs effectively.
