Joule Commercial is a privately held commercial construction company specializing in the self-storage industry.
Joule Commercial (JComm) is seeking a professional and detail-oriented project coordinator to join our growing construction team. The project coordinator will support the Project Manager in overseeing many aspects of small and large commercial construction projects for owned assets as well as third party clients.
This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
You will support our team throughout all phases of the construction project, from inception to completion. You will be involved in estimating, negotiating, construction administration, light field work, subcontractor coordination and project closeout.
You will be responsible for scheduling, tracking and coordination of construction projects between our different departments, providing support and recommendations to maximize our efficiency and ensure timely delivery of projects. Your work will be a combination of office and field work with ~2/3rds of your time spent in the office and ~1/3rd of your time spent in the field.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning and execution of construction projects from inception to completion including bidding and estimating.
- Coordinate project schedules, resources, equipment, information; monitor project financial performance.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation including schematics, blueprints, and reports.
- Utilize construction management software for project tracking and management.
- Facilitate communication between team members and stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.
- Monitor project progress and prepare regular status reports for management.
- Assist in AIA contract creation and pay applications, including draw package creation, obtain COI's, lien releases, sub invoices, create change orders, submittals, etc.
- Coordinate with both project manager and field superintendent to monitor job progress; liaise with accounting dept. for sub invoices/payments.
- Assist with value engineering and ongoing research to facilitate project cost savings.
- Monitor field teams and subs to ensure deadlines are met.
- Assist with miscellaneous permitting tasks, project close out, punch list, warranties.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Project Coordinator or similar role in the construction industry; self-storage and commercial construction experience strongly preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field strongly preferred
- Proficiency in construction management software such as ProCore, Primavera, Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Prolog.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading and schematic interpretation.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to be a team player and work on special projects
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to construction projects and experience with AIA contract management
