Position Purpose:

The Human Resource Manager will be a primary organizational leader to inspire and help employees succeed, and will continuously improve recruiting, performance appraisal, and individual development activities to support the Company’s reputation as a highly desirable place to work. The HR Manager will also lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department, including compliance with regulations, managing benefit and compensation programs, and enforcing company policies and practices.


Responsibilities:

Ongoing operations and compliance

• Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; research and propose competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.

• Review, and present relevant external and internal surveys to executive management; periodically review benefits and social/industry trends to ensure relevance and value.

• Create and continuously improve job descriptions in a common Company format, including tiers within departments.

• Maintain the Company’s handbook; keep it current and easily accessible and referenceable.

• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance; maintain a strong liaison with legal.

• Provide support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, or sensitive questions and issues arise; administer and execute tasks in delicate circumstances, such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

• Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

• Track and ‘own’ HR dept KPIs.

• Oversee the daily workflow of the department.

• Perform other duties as assigned.


Recruiting

• Manage the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants; collaborate with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies (including testing) required for positions.

• Create and maintain pages on the Company’s website for career opportunities.

• Create and monitor guidelines for hybrid/remote work.

• Create and actively manage onboarding plans; train managers for best results.


Growth and Development and Motivation

• Review and continuously improve the performance appraisal system (including manager education) with focus on motivation and personal growth.

• Help connect managers & supervisors to relevant local organizations.

• Create a reasonable curriculum for manager training and large group training.

• Organize Company meetings, contribute to agenda, arrange outside speakers.

• Collaborate with CEO and Advisory Board to develop and improve bonus and other incentive programs.

• Collaborate with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy, particularly focused on future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

• Recognize and help celebrate successes.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent listening, speaking, writing and presentation skills. Able to quickly pick up the ‘heartbeat’ of the organization.

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

• Always acts with integrity, professionalism, and appropriate confidentiality.

• Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

• Well-connected in the community with agencies and peers.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.


Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.

• Held an HR leadership position for a minimum of five years in a progressive, growing entrepreneurial organization.

• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.
