FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Pay Range: $70K – $100K (DOE)

About the Organization

Health Career Connection (HCC) is a national nonprofit that inspires, empowers, and professionally prepares the next generation of diverse health leaders and professionals. HCC also partners with health employers, health professions schools, and national, state, and regional collaboratives to meet emerging health workforce, equity and inclusion, and health improvement goals. HCC has been fulfilling its mission for over 30 years and operates its proven programs in 12 regions of the country. HCC’s over 5000 alumni serve as leaders and professionals in healthcare, public health, behavioral health, and life sciences.

In 2024, HCC launched a new Health Workforce Division, funded by the California Endowment. This division's purpose is to develop and implement a road map for the development of regional health workforce collaboratives across California, providing support through convening, connection, coordination, and technical assistance and elevating regional priorities for state policy and systems change. In this role, HCC will also become a re-grantor of health workforce initiatives and collaboratives across the state.

Position Summary

The Grants Manager will oversee grant management, tracking, and analysis to enhance the success of HCC’s Health Workforce Division and its major 5-year initiative across California. This role requires a proven ability to deliver results in large-scale, complex initiatives within health or workforce development. Besides supporting the new Health Workforce Division, the Grants Manager will also work across the institution to support grant-related activities in other divisions, fostering collaboration and consistency across programs.

The Manager is also responsible for designing and managing re-granting to regional collaboratives, ensuring scalability, sustainability, and impact while adhering to compliance and reporting standards. Additionally, the Manager will provide technical assistance, integrate feedback to strengthen projects, and maintain effective communication with grantees and internal teams. Strong project management skills and a deep understanding of the health, education, and workforce sectors in California are essential. The ideal candidate will thrive in a start-up environment, skillfully building necessary structures and processes.

  • Analyze programmatic grant reports to extract key insights, identify trends, and gather actionable feedback to inform future grantmaking strategies.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of financial reports to assess fiscal progress and grant fund utilization, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Perform advanced trend analysis and forecasting to develop recommendations for optimizing the allocation and utilization of grant funds, aiming to maximize impact across all programs.

  • Oversee the project management of fund disbursements, ensuring timely allocation in line with budgetary and transparency goals.
  • Refine grant application and decision-making processes to enhance transparency, incorporating feedback and evaluation outcomes.
  • Document and monitor grantmaking workflows, forms, templates, reports, and data to maintain compliance with internal controls and legal standards.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Development teams to establish regular financial reconciliation processes.
