SQL Developer

Location – Torrance, CA (Hybrid of onsite 2 to 3 days per week depending on the work assignment)

Contract Duration – December 2024 – March 31, 2026

Overtime - Overtime will vary by production support activities

We are looking for a strong SQL Developer who has a background in the financial services sector. Ideally, this Developer will have a background supporting lending systems. Any automotive lending industry experience would be a huge plus (Customer Service, Payment Processing, Taxes, End of Term and Extension processes, Collections, Delinquency Tracking, Repossession, Charge Off, Recovery, Bankruptcy, and Accounting). This developer will be working within a hybrid Agile and Waterfall environment. As a Senior SQL Developer, this person will provide Application Development and Production Support for multiple large projects. Duties will include:

  • Researching and resolving production issues, troubleshooting of Mid-Tier MS SQLServer online and batch issues
  • Evaluating the daily and monthly batch process to improve performance and shorten the critical path window
  • Performing Impact Analysis across multiple platforms and applications
  • Delivering complete documentation for estimates, design, and development
  • Providing on-call for production support during off-office hours (night and weekend)

Tasks will involve the following:

  • Coding and performing Unit and Integration Testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution and adherence to business and technical requirement
  • Coding, testing, and debugging of new software or making enhancements to existing software
  • Writing programs according to specifications from higher level staff or business analysts
  • Developing technical documentation
  • Resolving promptly problems that arise with existing production applications to ensure the efficient and proper functioning of application components
  • Collaborating with technical staff to learn and understand software problems
  • Generating a variety of complex and periodic reports and/or data through database management, data administration and data extraction techniques
  • Providing general system users and management with system analysis and feedback
  • Influencing system design by identifying and recommending design and requirements needs for software enhancements
  • Mentoring and coaching with less experienced staff
  • Maximizing the efficiency of the various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs
  • Analysing and resolving computer-related problems by coordinating with in‐house personnel to diagnose and fix operational difficulties, as well as consulting, advising, and training on specialized features and functions
  • Following established configuration/change control processes

Required Skills and Expertise:

· Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent

· Business knowledge of Financial Services with an understanding of Financial Services, Automotive Lending, Customer Service, Payment Processing, Taxes, End of Term and Extension processes, Collections, Delinquency Tracking, Repossession, Charge Off, Recovery, Bankruptcy, and Accounting.

Must have strong experience using SQL technologies (stored procedure, views, DTS package, etc.)

· 8+ years of strong SQL Development experience

· Strong production support experience.

· Must have SQL batch experience.

· 8+ years of experience in the design, development and implementation of SQL Server databases creating and maintaining T-SQL Procedures, functions, packages, and triggers.

  • Needs to have an excellent understanding on T-SQL programming with Microsoft SQL Server

· Must have experience in both SSIS and SSRS

· Experience with SQL Server Analysis Services

· Experience with modern relational databases is preferred

· Must have 3 years of experience working with ETL/ELT processes

· Familiarity with test practices and deliverables for unit testing

· Experience in working in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

· Self-starter with the ability to identify what tasks need to be prioritized based on the impact(s) on the environment and team

Desired Technical Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience in Automotive Finance industry preferred
  • Understanding of financial services automotive lending
  • Knowledge of Informatica is a plus.
