Position Summary:  This is an opportunity for an Associate Clinical Mental Health Counselor (ACMHC) or a CSW who recently graduated with a master’s degree and is working toward independent licensure, to work in a great department, with great people, in a well-respected organization. Provides counseling to patients, couple and families who are dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being, under prescribed guidelines and direction of Physician. Performs mental health evaluations and documents data, conducts approved therapeutic procedures, prescribes appropriate interventions under the supervision of the Clinical Mental Health Counselor.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Help patient cope with emotional, mental, and sometimes dependency disorders.

Conduct intakes and monitor individuals, provide mental health assessments, counseling, referrals, and intervention.

Complete and maintain documentation (completes notes within 24 hours of the patient appointment)

Work with individuals, groups, and communities to improve mental health.

Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences.

Examine issues including substance abuse, aging, bullying, anger management, careers, depression, relationships, LGBTQ issues, self-image, eating disorders, trauma, stress, and suicide.

Help clients define goals, plan action, and gain insight.

Develop therapeutic processes.

Refer clients to psychologists, psychiatrists for medication management and other services.

Participate in regular, weekly supervision with clinical supervisor.

Take a holistic (mind and body) approach to mental health care.

Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Responds well to patient’s questions. 

Provides care information within 24 hours of care to the patient (Clinical Summary) and to the patient’s regular primary care physician and encourages follow up.

Participates in regular weekly supervision with clinical supervisor.


Qualifications:

Graduate from a Master’s program in Counseling or Social Work.  Utah ACMHC or CSW license
