What You’ll Be Doing:

Oversee activities of employees working in the manufacturing of product to ensure safety, quality and productivity. Effectively communicates between management and production employees in order to build and maintain relationships. Plans and assigns work, implements procedures, and enforces policies. Suggests methods for improving production, processes, or operating conditions.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Others as assigned.

    • Understand all the parts of the production process in order to develop methods to utilize personnel and resources in the best possible ways:
      1. Ensure employees follow safety regulations knowledgeable about safety requirements and make sure that no violations occur
      2. Ensure production of products meets or exceeds efficiency and company quality standards
      3. Ensure steady flow of production activities by coordinates working schedules and overtime to meet production goals.
      4. Ensure optimal machine utilization
      5. Ensure supplies and resources are provided
    • Initiate, recommend, investigate, trouble-shoot and provide solutions and actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the products, process and quality system
    • Motivate and develop a cohesive production team, by building trust, rewarding, recognizing positive behavior and solving conflicts quickly.
    • Lead teams to meet production metrics and engage in continuous improvement activities. i.e. Kaizens, team meetings
    • Responsible for the operators' performance reviews, training & development, discipline and attendance
    • Recommends and implements action plans to correct deviations noted during audits.
    • Develop more cost-effective processes and reducing waste while also increasing productivity and employee satisfaction.
    • Assist with manpower planning and interviewing job applicants
    • Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, which includes: include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Schedule: This supervisor level position is overtime-exempt. We are hiring for our four ten-hour shift teams. Our day shift supervisor will support team members working 6AM-4:30PM Monday to Thursday and our overnight shift supervisor is expected to primarily support our overnight shift, who work 7PM-5:30AM Monday night to Thursday night. Training may occur on other shifts and days or could include a split shift of 10AM-8:30PM or similar. May also rotate weekends with other supervisors as needed to support other production hours for vacation, etc.



Qualifications

    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to build a team environment
    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent mix of related leadership experience and training
    • Two or more years’ related leadership experience in manufacturing or job-shop environment
    • Computer/technical skills including: Proficient in Microsoft office products, MRP/ERP and ability to learn others as needed.
    • Ability to work onsite with a reasonable commute to Shelbyville, KY
    • US Person as defined by ITAR/EAR requirements

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-5 years’ experience managing others
  • Knowledge of metal forming, welding, machining, metal fabrication
  • Advanced Lean Manufacturing experience
  • ISO Quality systems experience
