About the role

We are looking for a dynamic Director of Medical Affairs with a passion for medical communication and supporting scientific partnerships. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer, this position will be a key role in the organization with a span of responsibilities that include engaging with scientific advisors, creating clinical content for speaking events and publications, and advancing Empatica’s thought leadership in clinical research and digital health.

You will:

  • Cultivate and expand Empatica’s network of clinical and scientific advisors
  • Lead development and execution of strategy for scientific content generation and dissemination
  • Work cross-functionally with Business Development, Data Science, and Marketing teams to advance thought leadership through publications, white papers, and blog posts
  • Support advocacy efforts for reimbursement of Empatica products and services, including coordination of health economic and outcomes research (HEOR)
  • Review marketing communications and customer-facing materials to ensure that content is evidence-based and clinically accurate
  • Serve as a clinical subject matter expert in Empatica discussions with external clients and partners

  • Empatica is an international environment with offices in Europe and the US, and so we conduct all our work in English
  • This role will be based in our Boston office, with flexible options for partial at-home work

Requirements

You are the ideal person for this job if you have:

  • An advanced clinical degree (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD) and a minimum of 3 years in medical affairs or a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in the English language
  • Demonstrated expertise in the generation and review of medical communications
  • Enthusiasm for building relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, depending on the project, in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to evolving priorities
  • A passion for Empatica’s products and mission
  • Resilience, a get-things-done attitude, and an innate desire to do great work

Nice to have:

  • Clinical background in Neurology, Cardiology, Sleep Medicine, Mental Health, or Oncology
  • Direct experience in managing advisory boards and KOL networks
  • Direct experience in working with payers and/or health systems on ROI metrics, including patient engagement and HEOR data
