Summary: The Senior CAD Technician will help lead and coordinate a team focused on supporting large scale development programs for major clients within the Energy sector. The Senior CAD Technician will not only utilize AutoCAD and other software to create a variety of design, permitting, and client specific exhibits and datasets, they will also teach others how to use these software’s. The Senior CAD Technician will also be an integral part of improving efficiencies and workflows at Ascent.
Expected results in the role:- Creation and final review of the work of others to produce high quality and accurate exhibits and deliverables.
- Completion of assigned drafting tasks within established metrics.
- Applying knowledge of permitting regulations to site layout and exhibit creation.
- Continual advancement of both drafting and regulatory knowledge.
- Coordinate team members to ensure deadlines and goals are met.
- Assist team members with trouble shooting.
- Provide ideas and insights to improve efficiencies in workflows and processes.
- Communicate clearly with team members and other departments.
Essential Duties:
- Utilize AutoCAD to draft and final review the work of others for permitting and design exhibits.
- Train others on drafting and checking processes and procedures.
- Create and maintain templates for exhibits.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel to create spreadsheets and tables.
- Edit GIS databases via AutoCAD FDO connection to update attributes and feature geometry.
- Understands rules, regulations, and client design specifications and apply understanding when drafting and training others.
- Write and maintain written process documentation.
- Complete work within the prescribed metrics as set by the Coordinator with minimal errors.
- Track assigned work/budget/timeline and communicate with Coordinator to determine priorities of multiple tasks.
- Work with Coordinator to understand expectations of metrics for drafting and meeting milestones of project deadlines.
- Communicate with team members, Coordinator and Production Manager on workload status to meet designated utilization goals.
- Identify opportunities for product improvements and or efficiencies.
- Assist team members with trouble shooting.
Competencies:
- Advanced level proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D is a plus).
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Advanced level proficiency knowledge of Oil and Gas Rules and Regulations.
- Advanced level proficiency knowledge of O&G industry equipment and nomenclatures.
- Adapts to the changing work environment and manages competing demands.
- Ability to quickly learn to draft new exhibits and learn new workflows.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ year of work experience using AutoCAD.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Will coordinate and lead team members with direction from Project Management and Department Leads.
- Will be responsible for answering questions from technicians, or directing them to the appropriate subject matter expert.
Other Need-to-know items:
- Night and Weekend work may be necessary to meet client deadlines.
- You will be exposed to different workflows, processes, and data sets to determine your aptitude for working with various products.
