Position Summary: Under limited Supervision performs work requiring the use of judgment and discretion in making credit decisions for existing and new members seeking auto loans. Additionally, make marketing calls on dealerships to encourage them to send applications to Westmark, and continual monitoring and nurturing of relationships with Westmark partner dealerships. This is an experienced level position requiring additional skills in credit fundamentals, financial analysis and marketing/ interpersonal skills. Responsibilities include ensuring that established policies and procedures are followed, training and developing new and existing DLC lenders, and supervising DLC staff as needed and directed.



Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Review Loan Applications and credit reports in Dealer Lending Software (LPQ)
  • Approve loans within established lending guidelines and authority
  • Communicate loan decisions to dealerships through LPQ software, e-mail, or telephone in a timely and professional manner
  • Perform lending functions and ensure quality in underwriting and documentation are maintained for department
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal Banking Regs and Westmark Operational and HR policies and procedures
  • Ensure that department goals are met
  • Training and development of new and existing DLC lenders
  • Supervise DLC staff in the absence of the VP/DLC Department Manager
  • Make loan underwriting decisions on larger credits above the lending limits of the DLC Loan Officers
  • Complete all loan documentation and funding in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform any and all duties as assigned by the VP Dealer Lending Manager

  • Encourages and supports employee education, development and career goals
  • Represents Westmark, both during and after work hours, in a courteous, professional manner
  • Demonstrates a positive example in supervising staff toward achievement of Westmark’s goals and mission


Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of Westmark’s lending policies and procedures, credit underwriting standards and credit grading
  • Working knowledge of Lender Advantage and LPQ
  • General knowledge of Westmark’s loan and share products and all services
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Mathematical skills commensurate with lending needs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of the FSR training program with 6 or more months experience in lending at Westmark; OR other loan officer/lending training with one or more years of experience at another financial institution; OR a combination of relevant credit union and lending background or experience
  • 5 years loan officer/underwriting experience at Westmark Credit Union or another financial institution
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a financially related field or; a high school diploma and a minimum of one year of relevant banking or credit union experience; or a combination of formal education, training and applicable experience
