The Carpenter is responsible to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and/or fixtures of wood, plywood, and/or wallboard while using carpenter's hand tools and power tools as well as general maintenance and repair of facility areas, cleaning and safety of all guest and employee areas as well as parking lot, grounds and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company. This position supports operations in ensuring use-ready and compliant facilities and utilities, including troubleshooting, completion of preventive maintenance, and the completion of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) related documentation. The Carpenter provides feedback and recommendations to management on relevant topics including the planning of maintenance work, project management tasks, and the investigation and resolution of unusual situations.
Duties/Responsibilities- Perform, as part of a team, a wide variety of tasks to maintain facility in a best in class for guest experience. Interface with customers, vendors, and team members in support of facility initiatives, work request completion, or other duties as assigned in a professional and team-oriented manner.
- Conduct routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Utilize positive communication and interpersonal skills with guests, (internal and external), at all times.
- Assist the Facilities department in the maintenance, repair, cleaning, and safety of all guest and employee areas, as well as, parking lot, grounds, and adjacent lots to include any off-property site used by the company.
- Finish work including panels, finishes, interior/exterior trim, and installation of cabinetry. Study specifications in blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Cut and shape materials, structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines, or power saw.
- Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings, trim, or hardware.
- Verify trueness of structure, using plumb bob or laser equipment.
- Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, and other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, carpenter's hand tools, and power tools.
- Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue.
- Repair, replace, or remove damaged, defective parts or sections of structures.
- Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures.
- Operates industrial facilities equipment including, but not limited to forklifts, scissor lifts, JLGs, etc.
- Keep Supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Assist with requisitions, provides estimates/specifications for supplies and materials necessary to complete projects.
- Follow established safety rules, regulations, and maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Must be physically present to work a regular, reliable, and predictable work schedule in accordance with business demands, and maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.
- Embodies Soboba Casino Resort’s cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals. Perform special projects and other responsibilities, tasks, or duties as requested.

- Serve as a contributing Team Member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians enhancing the Casino’s operations in all its business endeavors.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School diploma or equivalent, required.
- An Associate of Arts or Certificate of Arts Degree in Carpentry from an accredited college or Trade school may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
- Four (4) years of residential construction, general carpentry, or cabinet making experience required.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Any combination of education beyond the minimum requirement as well as any experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary will be considered.
- Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
- Must be able to provide evidence of eligibility to work in the United States of America.
- Must possess a California Driver’s License and a clean driving record (less than 3 points).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Soboba Tribal Gaming Commission license.
- Required to submit to and obtain negative results on all drug and/or alcohol testing.
