Description:
The Estimator reports to the Preconstruction Manager or a Senior Estimator and is responsible for managing all estimating activities associated with Projects assigned to them. The Estimator will take the lead in estimating, planning, coordinating, and supporting work activities related to their assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
- Provide an accurate, detailed estimate as an individual or while working in a team environment.
- Understand the client’s pricing needs and requests and develop the estimate to match.
- Request material and subcontract pricing based on project requirements.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for completeness and correct scope.
- Understanding of Value Engineering and alternative design concepts
- Perform necessary research to produce accurate, complete and competitive pricing.
- Identify missing or incorrect scope and request clarification via clear RFI submission.
- Review the completed estimate with management prior to the bid due date.
- Understanding of conceptual Budgeting
- Perform NEC code compliance evaluations
- Fill out bid forms and proposal forms in an accurate and concise manner.
- Accountable for proper file keeping
- Willingness to work whatever hours necessary to meet bid schedules
- Ability to learn new means and methods
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to manage and review subcontractors and vendor’s bids, proposals and Bill of Materials.
- Knowledgeable with construction documents, including the ability to read drawings and specifications.
- Basic understanding of the construction process.
- Knowledge of MS Office Programs, and computer knowledge.
- Experience working with estimating software programs.
- Knowledge of electrical design and engineering.
- Ability to provide layout and design of electrical systems and associated cost.
- Ability to take direction and complete task with minimal supervision.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
- Five (5) years operational experience as an Electrical Estimator, with at least three (3) years of performing complete commercial electrical project estimates on projects over $1M.
- Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, Business Management, or equivalent work experience.
