PROGRAM: Youth Services

STATUS: Full Time, (35 hours per week)

FLSA DESIGNATION: Non Exempt

REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Youth Services

DEGREE: High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience requirement

EXPERIENCE: Experience with Runaway, Homeless and 'at Risk Youth' preferred

PAY RANGE: $18.71-$19.48 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet, engage, and provide positive role modeling to youth visiting Pinnacle Youth Engagement Center
  • Support team in providing coverage of Pinnacle Youth Engagement Center phone and in-person as needed
  • Assist in planning and implementation of Pinnacle Youth Engagement Center events
  • Assess immediate needs of youth visiting Pinnacle Youth Engagement Center with connections to agency and community supports as necessary, including determination of diversion eligibility using provided prevention and diversion tools
  • Provide caseload assistance to 3D staff with such responsibilities as: youth crisis planning and stabilization, transportation, housing diversion goals, educational and vocational goals, and life skill goals as necessary.
  • Work in partnership with all team members, including youth's referral source, natural supports, local community providers, etc. to ensure wraparound support of youth
  • Contribute to data collection related to Youth Services program outcomes
  • Determine the necessity of visual supports, communication supports, and mobility supports to maximize youths' ability to accomplish goals.
  • Assist 3D Program staff to develop a comprehensive academic/vocational plan embedded with data collection systems and periodic review dates for progress monitoring
  • Provide services to enhance self-sufficiency and sustain meaningful employment that is fulfilling to the youth as well as meeting employer needs
  • Provide agency and collaborative supportive services and education regarding safe and affordable housing services
  • Engage community partners (i.e. Housing entities, Niagara County Public Schools, post-secondary institutions, job training programs, social services, etc.) to minimize barriers and enhance youth participation and success
  • Adhere to Youth Services' approaches to youth engagement, including trauma-informed care, cultural humility, strengths-based, and positive youth development
  • Meet with supervisor for scheduled supervision on a regular basis.
  • Attend required agency and professional development trainings

PHYSICIAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Predominantly located at Pinnacle Youth Engagement Center
  • Ability to work in a crisis intervention setting
  • Job performed in a modern office setting
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk through the day
  • Ability to push, pull, bend, lift or carry up to 20 pounds throughout the course of the day related to office equipment such as p.c., journals, and binders
  • The function of this position usually performs community engagement with youth and families throughout the day. Some amount of office work will be required, however a good amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, calculations, cutting, labeling and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movement. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury of themselves or others

AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid NYS Driver's License
  • Use of personal vehicle during working hours

AGENCY EXPECTATIONS:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of program, mission, and services of PCS
  • Attends and participates in appropriate agency staff trainings and meetings.
  • Advocates for cultural diversity/sensitivity as appropriate
  • Reports all suspected incidences of child abuse/neglect to NYS Hotline .
  • Experience and knowledge on the use of computers, cell phones and a broad understanding of the Internet and e-mail in the workplace
