SUMMARY OF INTERNSHIP:

As a Physics Assistant at ProNova Solutions you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and treatment efficacy of the SC360, a state-of-the-art proton therapy system. This dynamic position requires a 50% commitment to maintenance, service, and machine operator duties, and the remaining 50% dedicated to physics-related activities, including quality assurance, system monitoring, and technical commissioning.

INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform routine maintenance and calibration of proton therapy devices under the guidance of the Maintenance and Service Manager.

• Obtain working knowledge of at least one SC360 subsystem.
• Collect and analyze routine machine QA data.
• Gain exposure and further develop automated system monitoring tools
• Assist in tuning the beamline and participate in commissioning and calibration activities to maintain peak operational standards.
• Collaborate with the physics team to develop and implement strategies for enhancing proton therapy device performance.

INTERNSHIP SPECIFICATIONS:

• Associate degree (or higher) in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• Ability to operate and maintain complex medical equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and data analysis capabilities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
• Experience working on complex systems in an industrial or medical setting.
• Previous exposure to one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.)
• Excellent technical communication skills, both verbal and written.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Completion of a physics project related to applicant’s and company’s mutual interests.
• Create and present a summary of work to the physics and/or R&D group

RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to Site Physics Manager/Lead or above
• Participates and contributes to regular physics and R&D meetings
