Job DescriptionJob Description

The Product Analyst I is responsible for work related to rate reviews, rate filings, form filings, and program filings for all major departments in all states; keeping up to date on state regulations and advisory organization filings for all lines; ensuring filing submissions are in compliance with all applicable insurance laws, regulations and rating bureaus and maintaining appropriate documentation for all lines.

Essential Duties:

  • Participates in research and development
    • Assists in development of new enhancements and products
    • Provides counsel to lines of business regarding compliance issues
    • Obtains competitor filings, as needed
  • Monitors form changes filed by ISO
    • Collaborates with affected line(s) to prepare analysis and outline for Management to submit (or delay) appropriate filings with insurance departments based on changes to ISO
    • Collaborates with affected line(s) to prepare analysis and outline for management to submit (or delay) appropriate filings resulting from regulatory or law change
  • Prepares rate reviews for filing
    • Requests and analyzes data with regard to pricing initiatives to assess the impact on business
    • Works with management, underwriting staff, and actuaries to develop rate changes for various lines of business
    • Creates rate filings to the appropriate insurance departments once change is determined, as needed
    • Prepares and submits rate filings for various lines of business in the agreed timeline
  • Creates program change or enhancement endorsement filings with the appropriate insurance departments
    • Submits program change or enhancement endorsement filings for all lines as approved by underwriting managers
    • Ensures that endorsements are in compliance with regulations and/or laws
  • Creates exception page filings with the appropriate insurance departments
    • Updates filings for all lines of business as approved by underwriting managers
    • Provides analysis to ensure that all rules are in compliance with regulations and/or laws
  • Creates new draft business requirement documents and maintain existing business requirements documents
    • Provides Information Services with instructions to effect changes, updates, enhancements, or rate filings in a timely fashion
    • Updates requirements documents with all changes keeping current with systems enhancements and changes
    • Maintains version control to ensure tracking of changes by filing
    • Helps business unit develop testing scenarios for product/program changes, as needed
  • Assists the Manager including:
    • Suggests any changes in Product Management Services processes and/or procedures
    • Provides information for reports, meetings, and other company activities
    • Communicates with manager regarding project work status and project task completion concerns
    • Trains of other Product Management Services staff
    • Presents to or prepare informational materials for other Company staff groups, as require
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum three (3) years' experience in a related position
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, planning, documentation and problem solving skills
  • Excellent research skills
  • Ability to handle shifting priorities
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills
  • Proficient in the use of computer
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
