Shipping and Production Worker

SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION:

The Shipping/Production position is responsible for assigned warehouse, shipping, and production duties year-round. The position will pull orders, pack and prepare for shipment. The position also needs to understand and be able to perform the functions of a production worker as assigned by the Plant Manager.

ESSENTIAL/MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Overall Responsibilities

· Wrap finished product and packs in containers as per required standards.

· Signs off on packing lists, pull sheets, bill of ladings, and other shipping documentation as necessary.

· Verifies cleanliness of outgoing and incoming truck trailers according to company food safety policies.

· Supervises loading and unloading of all trucks as assigned by Plant Manager

· Assures compliance with workplace safety procedures

· Limits access to loading docks by unauthorized individuals

· Receives and inspects external packaging of all incoming shipments. Notifies delivery personnel of any apparent shipping damage and proceeds accordingly. Reviews incoming packing lists and logs and routes to receiving inspection area.

· Receives and process returned goods shipments; complete and forwards returned goods paperwork.

· Loads contracted freight trailers

· Fork truck maintenance-watering

· Operates dolly, pallet jack, and/or forklift in loading and unloading supplies and equipment; operate shrink-wrap machine.

· Must be willing to assist in running the production. This includes all equipment, room teardowns, and processes as well as all required paperwork.

· Other duties as assigned by Plant Manager

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

EXPERIENCE:

· Fork lift operator certification

· Scissor Lift certification

PHYSICAL / GENERAL ACTIVITIES:

· Reading, writing and communicating fluently in English

· Mathematical Skills -Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

· Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

· For plant/production positions, may involve standing for frequent and long periods of time - UP TO 4 HOURS.

· Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate production machinery and equipment/maintenance of productivity equipment and/or a computer keyboard and other office equipment

· Kneeling, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching overhead

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
