Cork & Gabel in Detroit, MI is looking for one sous chef to join our 26 person strong team. We are located on 2415 Michigan Ave. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and hard-working.

Benefits

  • Paid 2 weeks vacation after year 1
  • 5 day work week, with early days and closing shifts one to 2 times a week
  • 45 to 55 hour work weeks, depending on business, most weeks are 50 or less

Responsibilities

  • Train and develop chefs to company standards
  • Create new dishes and menus in accordance with business needs
  • Anticipate ingredient needs and arrange re-stock accordingly
  • Ensure a productive kitchen flow that upholds business standards
  • Ordering
  • Delegating cleaning tasks
  • Writing prep lists
  • Menu costing and food cost
  • Proficient with scratch kitchens and prepping from scratch kitchens


Qualifications

  • Experience working as a sous chef or head chef
  • High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines
  • Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed
  • Adaptable to high traffic and kitchen volume
  • Able to cook brunch/breakfast
  • Able to work 5 days a week

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Mondays and Tuesdays. Compensation is $26.50 - $31.25/hour.
