Sous Chef at Cork

Cork & Gabel in Detroit, MI is looking for one sous chef to join our 26 person strong team. We are located on 2415 Michigan Ave. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, punctual, and hard-working.
Benefits
- Paid 2 weeks vacation after year 1
- 5 day work week, with early days and closing shifts one to 2 times a week
- 45 to 55 hour work weeks, depending on business, most weeks are 50 or less

Responsibilities
- Train and develop chefs to company standards
- Create new dishes and menus in accordance with business needs
- Anticipate ingredient needs and arrange re-stock accordingly
- Ensure a productive kitchen flow that upholds business standards
- Ordering
- Delegating cleaning tasks
- Writing prep lists
- Menu costing and food cost
- Proficient with scratch kitchens and prepping from scratch kitchens
Qualifications
- Experience working as a sous chef or head chef
- High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health and safety guidelines
- Able to delegate tasks effectively and assist when needed
- Adaptable to high traffic and kitchen volume
- Able to cook brunch/breakfast
- Able to work 5 days a week

Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Mondays and Tuesdays. Compensation is $26.50 - $31.25/hour.

Cork & Gabel’s name is derived from a combination of gabel, the German word for fork, and cork, a nod to the restaurant’s location in Corktown.
