We are looking for a passionate and experienced Sous Chef to oversee the operations of our second kitchen at Corktown Taphouse. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, excellent leadership skills, and a dedication to maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety. You will work closely with our Executive Chef to develop and execute a diverse menu, manage kitchen staff, and ensure that all dishes are prepared to perfection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development and execution of a creative and diverse menu that aligns with Corktown Taphouse's comfort cuisine concept.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Manage and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage costs to optimize kitchen efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to create seasonal menus and specials that align with the overall concept of Corktown Taphouse.
  • Ensure timely execution of all food orders, particularly during peak hours, to meet customer expectations.
  • Assist in managing food production levels, portion control, and waste reduction to maximize profitability.
  • Work closely with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and a high level of customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent experience required; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to train and mentor kitchen staff.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Creativity and a passion for food, with a strong understanding of current culinary trends.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with other team members.
