Camp Soar at Franklin YMCA- 8 week program that runs from Monday, July 1st through Friday, August 23rd - offers an exciting variety of camp options to please every kind of camper at every age With Arts-N-Crafts, STEM, Sports-N-Games, Music, and Outdoor Ed for children entering Kindergarten through 9th grade.


Camp SOAR is seeking a STEM Specialist to provide energetic camp spirit and leadership throughout a fun summer experience This role is responsible for executing our exciting camp curriculum focused in STEM to engage campers in a diverse multi-disciplinary experience at camp - all packed with a ton of fun We are seeking a well-rounded STEM counselor to lead activities and in this position provide the opportunity to develop core skills related to communication, mentorship, problem solving, and people management.


Essential Functions:

  • Plan, setup and deliver a variety of activities within STEM that are age specific and that keep children’s interests high.
  • Instruct Counselors on how to teach activities within specialty.
  • Lead STEM activities with assistance from Counselors and help keep Counselors engaged and focused on the activity.
  • Assist in carrying out themes and special events, general camp activities.
  • Learn camper’s names. Respond to campers needs.
  • Encourage camper’s youth development progress. As a leader, set a good example for the children. Teach campers how to solve problems and maintain basic discipline and group control.
  • Perform all responsibilities in an enthusiastic and committed manner.
  • Take the initiative to be actively participatory in all activities.
  • Act as needed when not leading a STEM program.
