We are currently looking for a Production Planner to join our team in Chicago Heights, IL.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting directly to the Production Planning Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for organizing production according to demand and quality standards, to ensure the smooth and cost-efficient flow of production operations.

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY:

  • Adheres to all safety rules and sets an example for others while working in the yard and production areas.

QUALITY:

  • Generates all work orders for all areas of the plant.
  • Bring in design bills-of-material and routings to the plant level and review with drawing for accuracy.

ON-TIME DELIVERY:

  • Maintains production schedules.
  • Maintaining SAP Capacity Planning Expectations.
  • Tracks raw rail availability and quickly works to correct any potential shortages.
  • Create daily and weekly saw schedules with the assistance of the rail coordinator.

COST:

  • Do costs roll ups. Review old and create new routings.

PEOPLE:

  • Work cooperatively with shop floor personnel.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

  • Adhere to Nortrak's Environmental Procedures, Practices and Policies.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALITIFCATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • High School graduate or GED preferred.
  • Post Secondary education or certification is preferred.

FIELD OF EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3+ years production planning experience.
  • Experienced in production planning and quality control principles.
  • Experience in MRP II (Manufacturing resource planning.
  • Proficient at math and statistics.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiar with ERP system and SAP applications.
  • Sound knowledge in MS Office standard programmes, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Access.

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing.
  • Must be able to lift or handle up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Occasional travel may be required which includes walking, standing, sitting and driving from short to long periods of time.
