OVERVIEW

The Development Associate (DA) position supports the revenue growth and diversification of resources for the USCRI Albany Field Office. The DA cultivates, stewards and retains individual and corporate donors through a moves management process. The DA is also responsible for cultivating, promoting, and stewarding other types of donors at the Field Office by offering assistance in project/proposal development, grant-writing, and grants management. The position reports to the Vice President for Strategic Development and works in close coordination with the Albany Field Officer Director and USCRI Development headquarters staff. This position is considered a full-time time position. The ideal candidate will be flexible with strong interpersonal skills, open to taking on varied responsibilities, and a self-starter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Under the direction of the Vice President of Strategic Development and in close consultation with the Albany Field Office Director, Albany Development Associate for Grants, and HQ Development staff, develops, recommends, and executes a strategy for prospecting, retaining, and growing donor contributions, in alignment with industry best practices, USCRI’s mission and goals, and national/global events and news;
  • Manages and supports the Advisory Committee comprising community leaders;
  • Engages and builds a portfolio of local business sector representatives on opportunities to partner and support USCRI;
  • Manages gift processing, including management of monetary and in-kind gift acceptance, and coordinates with Development and Finance staff to ensure timely acknowledgement, proper entry and tracking of gifts, and accuracy of donor records;
  • Maintains and build relationships with major donors in alignment with the USCRI Development Department practices to ensure donor loyalty and solicit increased giving;
  • Enhances agency efforts to solicit in-kind donations through volunteers and other community support;
  • Plans, implement and tracks progress of approved agency events, including outreach, community engagement, and fundraising events;
  • Supports marketing and communications activities to promote agency events and activities, including writing and producing monthly Field Office newsletter; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fundraising Management, Business Administration, International Relations, Public Health, Social Work or other relevant degree;
  • Two to three years of demonstrated experience in development including grant writing, professional fundraising, and forming successful relationships with foundations and other public and private funders;
  • Experience working with international and federal agencies, such as Department of Health and Human Services, Department of State, Department of Agriculture, UNHCR and private foundations is preferred;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and experience working on acknowledgement letters, reports, articles, brochures, press releases and other communications;
  • Strong computer skills required, including knowledge of Microsoft Office; experience with grants.gov is preferred;
  • Covid-19 vaccination card mandatory;
  • Self-starter with ability to work well in a team, juggle multiple priorities, and meet regular deadlines;
  • Strong attention to detail; must be highly flexible and able to keep multiple assignments moving forward; and
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of USCRI and interest in growing in a nonprofit development department long-term.
