Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the general maintenance and repair of the agency's building's, lease spaced, staff apartments, furniture & fixtures, equipment, auto maintenance, safety, and other physical work as needed. All work is authorized by the Senior Director of Properties and their assignments are coordinated through the Properties Manager or Properties Administrative Coordinator.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Specific duties and responsibilities:

Repair

  • General facility maintenance and repair including, but not limited to plumbing, electrical, hvac, carpentry, wood-working, furniture repair, dry wall repair, painting, etc.
  • Procure/maintain an adequate inventory of materials/supplies needed to perform job responsibilities.
  • Ensure that all assigned projects are completed in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Participate in on call duties as assigned on a rotating schedule.

Upkeep

  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of all agency vehicles and other motorized equipment including, but not limited to agency cars, tractors, mowers, weed-eaters, forklifts, etc.
  • Regularly service machinery and grounds equipment including major and minor repairs.
  • Maintains the grounds and other assigned areas in a safe, attractive well-kept professional manner at all times including landscaping, snow removal, and other grounds maintenance activities.

Safety

  • Maintains a continual awareness of safety issues and follows safe work practices in performance of all work activities.
  • Understand and utilize all types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing job duties

Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency preferred
  • At least three years of experience or training in general maintenance related to office buildings, and grounds.
  • Active drivers license in good standing
  • Able to utilize a cell phone and work in an online work order system application.

  • Physical functions which are considered essential to the satisfactory performance of the job include the following: reading, typing, writing, speaking, and using the telephone and computer.
  • Employee must be able to operate a vehicle for job duties, and keep a valid NC drivers license with insurance.
  • Duties may be performed indoors, outdoors, or in varying home and office environments.
  • There is moderate noise. The employee is exposed to extreme weather conditions, toxic fumes, and/or airborne particles.
  • The employee must occasionally travel to different locations in the course of work.
