TITLE: School Therapist

LOCATION: North Bend Elementary (North Liberty, IA), Clear Creek Elementary (Oxford, IA) and Amana Elementary (Amana, IA)

JOB SUMMARY: This position will communicate with parents, school personnel and community resource staff in helping support students and families.

REPORTS TO: Principal or Designee

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individual and/or group social work services to students
  • Work with families to help them become more effective participants in their children's education
  • Provide crisis intervention, as needed
  • Maintain ongoing communication with service providers; i.e. outside agencies, medical personnel, community therapists, protective services, etc., to ensure that services needed by the family are provided.
  • Contribute to professional development by providing in-services, consultation, and mentoring colleagues, as needed
  • If covered by liability insurance, may diagnosis mental illness to assist students getting further help as needed

EDUCATION

  • Master's Degree in social work from a graduate school of social work and accredited by the Council on Social Work Education is required
  • Accreditation from the State of Iowa -
    • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)- OR -
    • Social Worker Independent Level License (LISW)
